Finger Style Guitar

As quoted from :

Fingerstyle guitar is the musical methodology of playing the guitar by plucking the strings directly with the fingertips, fingernails, or picks attached to individual digits, as opposed to flatpicking (picking individual notes with a single plectrum called a flatpick) or strumming all the strings of the instrument in chords.

During my years of stydying music and guitar, I’ve been amazed by the evolution and innovations in the art of music, especially in guitars.

Some of you might have heard about it, and some of you might have not. For those who have not, believe me you WILL be amazed.

My first encounter with fingerstyle was when my guitar teacher showed me a concert VCD named "Tommy Emmanuel In Concert".

I was immediately dumbfounded when that guy with the acoustic guitar making sounds of running horses/gazels, while playing out the sounds depicting a ceremony of an Australian aboriginal tribe!?!

For those who know, Tommy is one of the leading fingerstyle professionals in the world. And not to mention legends like Chet Atkins, who inspired Tommy to become a guitarist in his early years.

But today, im showing you another one of my favourite fingerstyle guitarist – Andy McKee. I just cant stop repeating and listening to this song~!!! And now, without further adieu, lets hear it from

Andy McKee – Drifting

For those who cant get enough of it, visit

To my knowledge, the fingerstyle lesson cost around RM100 – RM120 for beginners, that was a year ago, and not every school has fingerstyle teachers  (=_=|)a
